Don’t let the name fool you. When the ice melts at Mount Snow, it’s obvious why the Green Mountains were named such, and the mountain resort and surrounding area make a great warm weather baby boomer travel destination.

After a 3.5-hour drive from Poughkeepsie, your first stop should the scenic chair lift ride where you’ll take in the views of a spectacular section of the Green Mountain National Forest.

Mount Snow, both the name of a mountain and a ski area, is located at the midway point of southern Vermont’s scenic and historic Molly Stark By-Way in the small town of West Dover, just north of Wilmington.
